11. “Little Pretty” (Steve Vai’s Inviolate) – Steve takes us on an harmonic journey like no other on this song. And, is this the craziest chord progression to solo over? Are those chords even legal anymore?
12. “Soundtrack Life” (Eric Johnson’s The Book of Making/Yesterday Meets Today) – This track is a wonderful blend of Eric’s unique chord voicings, big melodies, arpeggios and solo adventures. Lots of emotion and drama in the arrangement drives home Eric’s signature message.
13. “Another World” (Gojira’s Fortitude) – This song transports me every time I blast it: it’s uniquely cinematic and epic! Besides the extra cool guitar arpeggios that propel the track, the vocals, mix and sonic landscape are beautifully intense.
14. “Where Were You” (Jeff Beck’s Guitar Shop) – I still find it hard to believe that Jeff picked up his Stratocaster one day and created this stunningly beautiful, heart stopping piece of music, and invented a new way to play the electric guitar all at once. It’s still spellbinding!
15. “Running With Bulls” (Kiko Loureiro’s Open Source) – Kiko has a swing and groove like no other progressive/metal/all around awesome guitarist. He transcends his flawless technical abilities with so much heart it makes everything he plays sound like pure music.
